Saturday's game between Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rivals Waynesburg and Case Western Reserve will serve as both team's final non-conference game. Saturday, Sept. 17, will be the opening week of conference competition.

Waynesburg will look to end a six-game losing streak to Case Western Reserve on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets' last victory over the Spartans was in 2014, when the two teams met for the first time. The Jackets earned a 35-15 triumph, which came as part of a memorable campaign that saw the Orange and Black go 8-3 overall. That same season, Waynesburg scored its memorable 31-28 overtime win over Washington & Jefferson and hosted Buffalo State in the ECAC Southwest Bowl.

Last year, Waynesburg and Case combined for 99 points in a 66-33 Spartan win. The game served as Dakota Romantino's (Charleroi, Pa. / Charleroi) introduction as one of the most explosive receivers in the PAC. Then a freshman, Romantino set game highs in catches (9) and receiving yards (260), while also pulling in his first collegiate touchdown.

In 2021, Case's Drew Saxton and Waynesburg's Tyler Raines (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) took part in one of the most entertaining quarterback duals in the PAC that year. Saxton blew up for 413 yards and five touchdowns, while completing 22-of-32 pass attempts. Raines had his best outing as a collegiate player to that point by hitting on 17-of-28 passes for 345 yards and three scores.

Last year's offensive outburst included a 100-plus-yard rushing performance from Waynesburg's Justin Flack (Derry, Pa. / Derry). Flack tallied a game-high 109 yards on 20 totes.

Waynesburg kicker Ricco Sastoque (Concord, N.C. / Northwest Cabbarus) led all PAC kickers with 10 points (seven extra points, one field goal) in week one.
