WASHINGTON, Pa. (Nov. 12) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team hit the road on Saturday to compete in the Washington & Jefferson Invitational. The Yellow Jackets had a larger contingency than at this past weekend's Ned McGinley Invitational and it showed as Waynesburg finished ninth in a solid field of competing teams.

The Jackets were the top placing Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) squad and boasted the only individual champion in the conference. Senior Colby Morris (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) made it two-for-two in tournament titles by besting the field at 174 pounds.

After winning his first bout by injury default, Morris piled up the points in a 20-6 major decision over Thomas More's Jahmon Spiller. He followed that up with a 43-second pin in the semifinals over McDaniel's Dalton Pearl to reach the finals against third-seeded Eli Crum of Lycoming. The top seed found himself in a wild bout that was tied at 11 after seven minutes of regulation action. Morris improved to 9-0 on the season thanks to a takedown in overtime that gave him a 14-11 victory.

Senior Josh Kuslock (Hickory, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) had a successful season debut by placing fifth at 141 pounds. Kuslock started his day with back-to-back 15-0 technical falls to reach the quarterfinals. After being dropped into consolations, the Waynesburg veteran made a pair of loud statements against PAC opposition. He posted his third technical fall of the day against Saint Vincent's Tyler Debnar, before squaring off with returning PAC champion Hunter Swedish of W&J. Kuslock made quick work of Swedish with a fourth technical fall, this one coming in the first period, to reach the fifth-place bout. The points continued to flow, as he rolled to an 18-0 tech fall.

Elsewhere, freshman Gavin Novak (Carnegie, Pa. / Chartiers Valley) earned his first collegiate win with a pin in wrestle-backs at 125 pounds. Sophomore JT Hollyfield (Oakdale, Pa. / West Allegheny) bounced back from losing his first match at 149 pounds with back-to-back triumphs in the consolation rounds.

Junior Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) and freshman Brayden Barbao (Donora Pa. / Ringgold) both earned victories at 157 pounds. Evans went 2-2 with a technical fall, while Barbao logged a pin in consolations.

Waynesburg was well represented at 184 pounds by freshmen Jacob Wilson (Wills Point, Texas / Princeton) and Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chariers-Houston), who both posted 3-2 records at the weight. Wilson went 3-2 with two pins, while Orbin posted a 3-2 mark with a technical fall. Three of their combined four losses were by four points or less.

Junior Ayden Bishoff (Kingwood, W.Va. / Preston) earned a 16-2 major decision in consolations at 197 pounds.

The Yellow Jackets return to the mats on Saturday, Nov. 18, when they host their home duals. The event, which features Averett, Lycoming and Shippensburg, is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m. on two mats in the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
