PAINESVILLE, Ohio (Dec. 3) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team opened the month of December on Sunday with a trip to the Storm Open, which was hosted by Lake Erie College. The Yellow Jackets competed in a field that featured NCAA Division I programs Ohio State, Central Michigan, Buffalo, West Virginia and Ohio, as well as multiple Division II teams.
 
The Jackets were paced by junior Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon), who placed fourth at 157 pounds after going 2-2 on the day. Evans opened his run with a 17-0 (4:39) technical fall over Wilmington's Alexander Ruth. He followed that with an impressive 6-3 decision triumph over Evan Reid of Division II Gannon.
 
Evans' day ended with back-to-back losses.
 
Freshman Billy Sugden (Ligonier, Pa. / Ligonier Valley) added a win at heavyweight.
 
The Jackets are back in action on Friday, Dec. 8, when they travel to Penn State Behrend for a dual match. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
