STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 20) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition on Wednesday evening by traveling to play the defending conference champions from Franciscan. The Yellow Jackets fell 4-0 to the Barons.
Franciscan (6-3, 1-0) scored the eventual game winner late in the 16
th minute and doubled its advantage before halftime. The Barons tacked on a pair of second-half goals to close out the win.
Junior goalkeeper
Michael Francus (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) started and played all 90 minutes in goal for Waynesburg (3-3, 0-1). He tallied three saves in his most recent appearance between the pipes.
Freshman
Zachary Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic) tallied a team-high three shots for the Yellow Jackets, one of which was on goal.
Waynesburg will play the first of three-straight home game on Saturday when Chatham comes to John F. Wiley Stadium for a PAC matchup. Start time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
