MCKEESPORT, Pa. (Sept. 1) – The Waynesburg University women's golf team opened up the 2023 fall season with a dual match against Carlow at Youghiogheny Country Club on Friday. The Yellow Jackets fell 386-452 to the Celtics
 
Waynesburg was led by senior Tess Smith (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon), who carded a squad-best 18-hole total of 101. Senior Avery Robinson (Ravenna, Ohio / Ravenna) followed with a 105, while sophomore Maeve Hanley (Punxsutawney, Pa. / Punxsutawney) added a 118. Freshman Emma Fannin (Byesville, Ohio / Buckeye Trail) rounded out the scoring with a 128.
 
The Waynesburg women return to the course on Monday, Sept. 11, when they travel to Avalon at Buhl Park Country Club to compete in the Thiel Invitational. Tee time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
