THE SERIES (ALLEGHENY LEADS 6-0)
The Jackets rallied from a 19-point halftime deficit to force overtime in a wild season opener at John F. Wiley Stadium last fall. The Gators re-joined the PAC in 2022, prompting the first Jackets-Gators matchup since 1929. Last season the Gators escaped with a 39-36 win. Allegheny scored touchdowns on each of its first four drives and outgained the Yellow Jackets 303-85 in the first half as Allegheny owned a 26-7 lead at the half. Waynesburg's first two scores came on a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Xavier Nelson and a three-yard plunge by Justin Flack following a 39-yard fumble return. Samuel Barber connected with Dakota Romantino on a 39-yard touchdown reception with 28 seconds left to tie the game at 33. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the score pushed the PAT back 15 yards and the extra point was missed. In overtime, Rico Sastoque booted a 42-yard field goal for the Jackets. Facing a third-and-15, Allegheny scored the gamewinning touchdown with a 19-yard strike to Declan O'Brien. The game was Waynesburg's first overtime affair since defeating W&J in 2014.

PAVE THE LANE FOR ZAYNE
Junior Zayne Cawley posted another breakout performance against Bethany in a 34-14 homecoming victory for the Jackets. The back exploded onto the filed with a season best 255 rushing yards and three touchdowns. After Saturday's performance Cawley has 774 rushing yards which ranks first in the PAC and seventh nationally. The back also has totaled six rushing touchdowns to place fourth in the conference. Cawley was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday for his performance against the Bison. He became the eighth player in program history to be named multiple times to the national team of the week after doing so last fall after setting Waynesburg's single game rushing record of 336 yards at Bethany.

RETURN OF THE SWARM
