TRAFFORD, Pa. (October 28) – Waynesburg University senior quarterback
Samuel Barber (Johnstown, Pa. / Greater Johnstown) was honored as the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Barber turned in a career day and engineered a fourth quarter comeback in the Jackets' 44-41 victory at Allegheny on Saturday.
Barber set career highs with 355 passing yards and four touchdown passes. With the Jackets trailing 41-33 late in the fourth quarter, he connected with
Tyler Richmond (Carmichaels, Pa. / Carmichaels) for a 62-yard touchdown. Barber tied the game at 41 by running in a two-point conversion.
Following a Waynesburg interception, the Jackets took over on their 31 yard-line with 1:38 remaining. Barber had completions of 20 and 24 yards to set up the game-winning 32-yard field goal in the game's closing seconds.
Barber's 355 passing yards were the most for a Yellow Jacket quarterback since Tyler Perone threw for 401 yards against Thiel in 2016.
The Jackets take on No. 13 Grove City on Saturday at John F. Wiley Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
