ON WAYNESBURG
The Jackets picked up their first victory of the season with a 21-7 triumph at Saint Vincent in week four. After surrendering an early touchdown, Waynesburg scored 21 unanswered points as Zayne Cawley racked up 192 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. The Jacket defense had a goal line stand prior to a SVC missed field goal in the first half and two fourth down stops and an interception in the second half. Waynesburg went a season-best eight-of-12 on third down and did not turn the ball over for the first time in 2024.

ON CARNEGIE MELLON
No. 15 Carnegie Mellon overcame a 19-point halftime deficit and defeated (RV) Washington & Jefferson 30-27 in overtime last week. The Tartans used a complete second half effort to outscore W&J 19-0 to force overtime. After a Presidents' field goal in the first overtime posession, Reece Kolke's 20-yard touchdown reception ended the ballgame. Kolke was honored as the PAC Offensive Plyaer of the Week as he finished with 162 receiving yards and three touchdowns. CMU's recorded two safties and blocked a pair of field goals in the win.

THE SERIES (CARNEGIE MELLON LEADS 17-5-1)
The Tartans  own a 7-1 record against the Jackets since joining the PAC as an associate member. Waynesburg defeated CMU 28-24 in the ECAC South West Bowl in 2012 and earned its lone conference win over the Tartans in 2018.

Last season the No. 15 Tartans scored the first 20 points of a 41-10 victory while holding the Jackets to negative-nine yards over Waynesburg's first five drives. Rico Sastoque put the Jackets on the scoreboard with a 37-yard field goal with 1:31 left in the half. The Waynesburg defense snatched interceptions on three-straight Tartan drives, one of which set up Sastoque's field goal. Zayne Cawley scored the Jackets' lone touchdown of the day with a 40-yard rush early in the fourth quarter. Waynesburg was limited to 191 yards of total offense (3.1 yards per play).

Waynesburg and Carnegie Tech previously met 15 times. Carnegie Tech led the series 10-3-1.

BATTLE OF TWO BACKS
This week's matchup features the top two running backs in the conference, with Carnegie Mellon's Tre Vasilidas leading the league in rushing with 384 yards with Waynesburg's Zayne Cawley ranking second. The Jacket junior has 381 yards and three rushing touchdowns on the season. The contest also includes the PAC's rushing touchdown leader in Carnegie Mellon quarterback Joey McGinnis IV, who has six rushing touchdowns on the year.

SWARMING TO THE SCENE
Waynesburg is coming off a week three contest where the Jackets posted season lows in points allowed, yards allowed, and third down conversions. Senior Jemuel Cypress continues his streak of leading the PAC in solo tackles this season with 22 throughout four games this season.
