SANDUSKY, Ohio (December 14) – The Waynesburg University women's wrestling team took on five opponents at the Berg Holiday Duals, hosted by Heidelberg at the Cedar Point Sports Center on Saturday.
The Jackets filled a season-high six weight classes at the event. Waynesburg was defeated by West Liberty (57-0), Tiffin (47-0), Otterbein (36-18), Alfred State (25-14) and Mount Union (34-5) on the day.
Melanie Matherson (Fort Cherry, Pa. / Fort Cherry),
Kaylee Jegla (Chesterfield, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse High School North) and
Rylie Alexander (Mount Clemens, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse High School North) each collected a forfeit against Otterbein.
Faryn Dewitt (Scottdale, Pa. / Southmoreland) and Alexander won via forfeit in their match against Alfred State. Dewitt also added a forfeit in the final match against Mount Union.
Ja'Khia Matthews (Charlottesville, Va. / Albemarle) scored a 10-0 victory at 207 pounds over Alfred State's Hannah Grawn.

Mickayla Baniaga (Kalihi, Hawaii. / Kamehameha Schools Kapalama) made their season debuts at the duals.
The Jackets return to action next semester on Jan. 12 at Hiram.
