WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Feb. 11) --
Quintin Weaver (Rimersburg, Pa. / Union) and
Ella Rishell (Montgomery County, Md. / Watkins Mill) have been named the latest Waynesburg Athletes of the Week for their respective performances at the Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) Open last Friday night.
Weaver set the program record and won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:02.23. He topped
Andrew Kasper's (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Orchard Park) week-old Waynesburg record and beat the second place finisher by a resounding 38.47 seconds.
Weaver set the program record in the 1,000-meter on January 27 at the Muskingum Meet with a 2:35.14 run. He is also second in program history in the 800-meter with a time of 2:00.57.
Rishelll took gold in the long jump with a 4.56-meter jump. She added her second first-place finish with a 10.04-meter triple jump.
Rishell shined on the track as well, finishing first in the 200-meters with a time of 28.54 seconds.
The Yellow Jackets' men's and women's indoor track and field teams return to action Thursday, February 22 for the Presidents' Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at Youngstown State University.
