WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (March 2) -- The Waynesburg University wrestling team's season came to an end Saturday at the Southeast Regionals hosted by Lycoming College as
Cole Homet (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) and
Colby Morris (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) finished sixth at 149 and 174, respectively.
Homet was pinned by the eventual champion Taylor Smith (W&J) in 4:34 in the semifinal round. During the consolations, Kobin Karper (Lycoming) topped Homet in a 13-9 decision and Pasquale Vizzoni (Stevens) beat the freshman standout by an 8-4 decision in the fifth-place bout.
Homet concludes his upstanding freshman season with an impressive 18-7 record.
At 174, Morris was topped by Khalil Mitchell (Averett) in an 18-12 decision. In the consolation bracket, Dylan Weaver (Shenandoah) beat Morris in a 9-7 decision. The local phenom then forfeited the fifth-place bout to finish sixth.
Morris concludes the season 37-4 and ends his Waynesburg career with an astounding 94-15 record.
