WAYNESBURG, Pa. (September 21) –Waynesburg University men's soccer freshman Sarpong Kwabiah (Odenton, Md. / Meade) scored on a free kick from 45 yards out in the final 10 seconds of regulation to deliver Waynesburg to a 2-1 win over Lancaster Bible under the lights of John F. Wiley Stadium on Saturday.

The Jackets enter Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play with a 4-2 record while LBC falls to 2-3-1. The win is Waynesburg's first over the Chargers since 2009.

With the game deadlocked at one, the Jackets earned a free kick from 45 yards from the end line with 12.5 seconds remaining. Kwabiah launched the free kick into six-yard box where the LBC keeper got a hand on the ball but it still found its way into the lower left corner for the game-winning tally.

The Chargers struck for the opening goal in the 43rd minute as LBC dribbled to the left end line, centered a pass and fired a show into the lower left corner to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.

Josh Smith (Dover, Ohio / Dover) tied the game in the 67th minute following a long Jacket throw-in. Connor Jacobs (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro) tapped a loose ball in the 18-yard box to Smith, who gathered and fired a right-angled shot into the lower left corner for the equalizer.

Michael Francus (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) made six first half saves for Waynesburg as the game was scoreless for the first 40-pus minutes.

Smith hit the crossbar off a cross by from Seth Massotti (Douglas, Mass. / Whitinsville Christian) with the ball bouncing off the crossbar, straight down but was ruled to not cross the goal line.

Jacobs and Kwabiah both ripped shots that flew wide of the frame in the first half.

LBC owned a 12-4 edge in shots on in the first half with all seven of the shots on goal in the first 45 minutes of play.

Kwabiah nearly found a go-ahead goal with 15 minutes left as he stepped into a shot from 20 yards out and just cleared the crossbar.

The Chargers had a two-on-two transition opportunity in the 80th minute that resulted in a close-range attempt that was turned away by Francus. On the ensuing corner kick, the Chargers had a look at an open net but Noah Biser (Wake Forest, N.C. / Wake Forest) bodied the shot away to prevent the goal.

The Jackets won despite being outshot 26-13 (16-6 SOG). LBC held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

Francus matched his own career high and single-game program record with 14 saves in the win. Kwabiah continued his scorching start to his Yellow Jacket career as he has registered a point in four of his first five collegiate outings.
