BESTED IN A BIG PLAY BATTLE
Waynesburg looks to end a two-game losing skid after dropping last week's matchup against conference foe Grove City 24-14. The Jacket defense swarmed through the first half, logging a turnover on downs, a forced fumble and a punt to hold the Wolverine offense scoreless. Big plays on defense and special teams aided Grove City as it built a 10-0 lead. Waynesburg answered with its first touchdown, but a blocked field goal was returned for a Wolverine score. Junior Joanes Polynice (Winter Garden, Fla. / West Orange) forced his second fumble on the day and returned it for Waynesburg's final score.

TORNADOES STORM THE TOMCATS
The Golden Tornadoes utilized their new air raid offense to push past Thiel in a 51-38 shootout. Geneva came out firing on all cylinders, scoring on offense, defense, and special teams to build a 24-0 lead. The Tomcats fired back with two passing touchdowns to cut the lead to 11. Geneva reached the end zone to cap off the third, before both squads combined for seven fourth-quarter touchdowns, six of which came through the air. Thiel rallied for the game's final two scores, but the GT's held on for the victory.

TURNOVERS PROVING COSTLY
Turnovers have been a nagging issue for Waynesburg throughout the 2025 season, with the Jackets posting a -4 turnover margin through six games and having a 0-2 record in games where they commit three or more turnovers. Last week, three interceptions, one of which was returned for a score, halted the Waynesburg offense as Grove City took a 24-14 victory.

ONCE BY LAND, NOW BY AIR
Geneva has flipped the script from prior years, transferring from a run-heavy triple option to the air raid offense in 2025. Junior Quarterback Caleb Romano is leading the nation with 2,093 passing yards and is tied for second with 19 passing touchdowns through the air. He is one of only two Division III quarterbacks to have already eclipsed 2,000 yards on the season. Romano is also the first quarterback for The Golden Tornadoes to throw for over 2,000 yards since 2013, when Zack Howard let fly for 2,739 yards to place fourth all-time in single-season passing yards for Geneva. Senior wideout Keaton Baker has been his favorite target. He currently ranks second in the PAC with 704 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches.

NOT JUST ABOUT THE OFFENSE
While Geneva's flashy aerial attack has rightly garnered its share of attention, the GT defense has its own share of stars, namely senior linebackers Nicholas Ciriello and Reed Gordon. The veteran duo currently rank second and third in the PAC in tackles per game at 11.0 and 10.2, respectively. Ciriello is also second in the league with 9.0 tackles for loss. Geneva also has a pair of top-10 sack masters in Wyman Shaheen (8th, 3.5) and Coltin Hill (8th, 3.5).

ORANGE AND BLACK DEFENSE FINDING ITS STRIDE
The Waynesburg defense had its best game this season last week against previously ranked Grove City. The Jackets posted season bests in completions allowed (7) and passing yards allowed (83) against the Wolverines. Polynice led the charge with nine total tackles and two sacks. Both sacks resulted in forced fumbles, with Polynice taking one the distance for a 48-yard scoop and score. Waynesburg's defense only allowed seven total points in the contest.
