HIRAM, Ohio (Oct. 22) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team tied Hiram 0-0, in a stellar defensive performance by the Yellow Jackets.
The first half was a complete stalemate with the Jackets (7-4-5,2-2-5) only allowing five shots and the Terriers (7-7-2, 3-4-2) only allowing three.
Two Jacket players had the only shots on goal in the first half from both teams, as junior
Zachary Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / Saint Joseph Central Catholic) shot one to the right side of the goal that was saved by the Terrier keeper. Junior
Antonio Baires (San Marcos, Calif. / Calvin Christian) nearly cashed in for the Orange and Black, but had his try on net denied.
The second half produced much the same as the first, with the Jackets recording five shots and the Terriers logging three.
The Jackets had one shot on goal in the second half by sophomore
Will Scott (Manassas, Va. / Colgan), which was also saved by the Terrier keeper.
The Waynesburg defense put together one of the finest showings in recent program history and didn't allow a shot on goal to the host squad.
The Jackets will play their final regular season road game when they travel to play Geneva on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
