WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 4) - The Waynesburg University men's soccer team lost in a hard-fought Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game against Washington and Jefferson by a score of 1-0 on Saturday.Â
The Yellow Jackets (6-4-1, 1-2-1) and the Presidents (5-4-2, 1-2-1)Â tied in shots in the first half with two each. The Presidents put one on goal, which freshman keeper Deven Patel (Columbus, Ohio / St. Francis DeSales) blocked from going in.Â
The score was tied 0-0 going into the second half with little pressure from both teams' offenses. Â
In the second half, both teams started to fire more shots. The Jackets had nine shots with two on goal and the Presidents had seven with three on goal. Â
The Presidents tallied the eventual game winner in the 78th minute to take a 1-0 lead and the eventual win.Â
Senior Nick Bryan (Olathe, Kan. / Blue Valley Southwest) led the team with three shots and one of them being on goal. Sophomore Sarpong Kwabiah (Odenton, Md. / Meade) had the other shot on goal and also put up two shots in the game. Â
The Jackets led the Presidents in shots with 11 to their nine (2-4 SOG). The Jackets also led in corner kicks 8-2. Â
Next up for the Jackets will be Thiel in a home PAC game at John F. Wiley Stadium on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
