Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) captured the 174-pound Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) title and head coach
Aaron McKinney was named the PAC Coach of the Year as Waynesburg hosted the 2024-25 PAC Wrestling Championships in the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Saturday.
The event marked the first five-team championship in the modern history of the PAC with the addition of Hiram. Washington & Jefferson took home the team title with 116.5 points. Waynesburg finished fifth with 37.5 points.
The Yellow Jackets had one champion, one runner-up and a third-place finisher.
Orbin ran his record to 39-4 for the season and claimed his first conference championship. The top-seeded wrestler in the 174-pound bracket, Orbin picked up bonus points in all three of his victories. He opened his day with a 12-1 major decision over Saint Vincent's Charlie Mesich. Orbin secured his place in the final with a fall in 2:12 over Hiram's Jimmy Thomas. In the title bout, he took an 11-2 major decision over Saint Vincent's Nathan Barkley.
Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) finished as the PAC runner-up at 157 pounds. He received the second seed and received a bye in the quarterfinals. In the semis, he posted a 13-6 decision of Saint Vincent's Logan Bechtold before surrendering a technical fall in the championship tilt against W&J's Casey Smith.
Ayden Bishoff (Kingwood, W.Va. / Preston) took third place with a 3-1 day at 197 pounds. He took a 1-0 decision over Dakota McDermott of Saint Vincent before falling to eventual PAC champion Joey King of Thiel. In the consolation bracket, Bishoff won by fall in 43 seconds against Howie Congdon of Thiel and took a 4-2 decision in the third-place match against W&J's Connor Garren.
Ryland Parker (Summerville, S.C. / Ashley Ridge) reached the semifinals at 125 pounds with a pin in 25 seconds against Hiram's Ian Fuentes.
Jaron Polk (Philadelphia, Pa. / Pennwood) earned a 4-2 decision over Hiram's Michael Hopson to make the championship semifinals in the heavyweight bracket.
AJ Tomaino (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) notched a win by fall over W&J's John Starusko in the consolation bracket at 174 pounds.
Waynesburg heads to the two-day NCAA Region 4 Championships on Feb. 28 at Averett.
