SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (April 5) – The Waynesburg University outdoor track & field teams took on the elements and a large field of competitors at Slippery Rock's Dave Labor Invitational on Saturday.
The Yellow Jacket women tied for 20th of 22 teams from the NCAA Division I, II and III ranks. The Waynesburg men did not record a team score.
Jacob Harker (Lilly, Pa / Bishop Carroll) set Waynesburg's outdoor shot put record with a heave of 14.69 meters. He placed 10th in the championship shot put event and was the second-highest placing Division III thrower in the event.
Garrett Hillard (Greenville, Pa. / Greenville) was third in the open shot put with a distance of 12.32 meters.
Ella Rishell (Montgomery County, Md. / Watkins Mill) notched the third-fastest 400 meter dash in program history (1:00.97). She finished eighth overall in a field of 41 women.
JaLisa Fuller (Latrice, Ind. / Lawrence Central) followed in 19th in 1:04.23. Fuller went on to notch a season-best time of 2:40.32 in the 800.
Quintin Weaver (Rimersburg, Pa. / Union) recorded the eighth-fastest outdoor 800 in team history by crossing the finish line in 1:56.32. He was 10th overall in the 99-man event.
Megan Barry (North Huntington, Pa. / Norwin) scored in the javelin with an eighth-place showing at 34.76 meters.
Natalie Double (Portersville, Pa. / Slippery Rock) followed in 10th at 33.45 meters.
Rylie Baker (Weirton, W.Va. / Weir) placed 10th in the discus with a season-best mark of 28.24 meters, good for 10th place.
Kyle Casella (Clarksboro, N.J. / Kingsway) took 10th in the 400 meter hurdles in 59.90.
Dagyn Williams (Leslie, Ark. / Marshall) set a team season-best in the 400 in 53.02 to place 22nd in a 58-man field.
John Stewart (Lancaster, Pa. / JP McCaskey) placed 20th in the championship discus at 40.19 meters.
Chloe Fields (Linesville, Pa. / Conneaut) made her event debut in the 5k and posted a time of 23:34.55 to finish 23rd in a 40 runner field.
Waynesburg track & field returns to action next weekend at Westminster.
