MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 2) – Waynesburg University junior Grace Tanksley (Bedford, Ind. / Bedford North Lawrence) captured the 10k title as the Yellow Jacket women's outdoor track & field team took eighth at the Presidents' Athletic Outdoor Track & Field Championships at West Virginia University's Mylan Park on Thursday and Friday.

Waynesburg finished with a team score of 24 points with Tanksley's title and three additional scorers in the throws and 4x400 relay. Grove City claimed the team title with a score of 206.

On Thursday evening Tanksley ran to what seemed to be runner-up finish in the women's 10k. The race had several delays and rain continued throughout the competition. Her time of 39:25.94 edged the third-place finisher by under two seconds and ranked seventh in team history. However, the top finisher was disqualified for an equipment violation, making Tanksley Waynesburg's fifth 10k conference champion since 2016.

Waynesburg had two scorers in the javelin with Natalie Double (Portersville, Pa. / Slippery Rock) and Megan Barry (North Huntington, Pa. / Norwin) posting top-eight finishes. Double placed third with a top throw of 37.79 meters and Barry was sixth at 35.17 meters.

Freshman Maggie Clair (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon McMillan) turned in a season-best shot put of 11.46 meters to score in the shot put with a sixth-place finish.

Ella Boothe (Fredericktown, Pa. / Bethlehem Center) and JaLisa Fuller (Latrice, Ind. / Lawrence Central) both posted PRs and top-10 finishes in the 400. Boothe ran 1:02.99 to finish ninth and Fuller followed in 1:03.01 to place 10th.

Reagan Pettis (West Springfield, Pa. / Northwestern) notched a season-best time of 13:02.28 in a 12th-place finish in the 3k steeplechase.

The Jackets' 4x400-meter relay group of Fuller, Amber Sallee (Bentleyville, Pa. / Bentworth), Chloe Fields (Linesville, Pa. / Conneaut) and Boothe ran to a seventh-place finish in 4:22.46.

Waynesburg continues its season tomorrow at WVU's Stan Romanoski Open.
