MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 3) – Waynesburg University sophomore
Rylie Baker (Weirton, W.Va. / Weir) broke the Yellow Jacket women's hammer throw record at the Stan Romanoski Open at West Virginia University on Saturday.
Baker was the lone Jacket to compete at the event as Waynesburg had concluded the two-day Presidents' Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday evening.
Baker finished third as the top Division III finisher at the meet with a personal record distance of 33.76 meters. She eclipsed the previous team record of 33.65 meters, set by Becca Dolce in 2022.
Baker now owns four of the five farthest hammer throw marks in program history, all coming in the 2025 season.
A select group of student-athletes will compete next Saturday at the WVU Last Chance meet.
