Double, Settles and 4x400-meter relay team claim victory at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. (March 28) – The Waynesburg University women's track & field team traveled to West Liberty University this weekend to compete in the Tim Weaver Invitational. The Yellow Jackets scored multiple victories at the unscored meet.
 
Junior Natalie Double (Portersville, Pa. / Slippery Rock) bested 14 other competitors with a throw of 37.66 meters in the javelin. Freshman Adaire Settles (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) also tasted victory in the 400-meter hurdles. She broke the tape with a time of 1:10.12.
 
Speaking of winning races, that's just what the Jackets did in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet of freshman Bethany Byrne (Uniontown, Pa. / Laurel Highlands), junior JaLisa Fuller (Latrice, Ind. / Lawrence Central), freshman Ella Whysong (Bedford, Pa. / Chestnut Ridge) and freshman Lauryn Jones (Somerset, Pa. / Rockwood Area) combined to put up the winning mark of 4:44.13.

200 Meters
Ella Rishell (Montgomery County, Md. / Watkins Mill): 6th place – 28.47 seconds
 
1,500 Meters
Erin Belveal (Bay Village, Ohio / Bay): 12th place – 4:31.29
 
10,000 Meters
Grace Tanksley (Bedford, Ind. / Bedford North Lawrence): 5th Place – 41:44.75

Waynesburg is back in action next weekend when it competes at the Dave Labor Invitational, which is being hosted by Slippery Rock University.
