Women's track spends the weekend in West Virginia

Baker sets program record in the hammer throw at Mountaineer Showcase

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 19) – The Waynesburg University women's track & field team competed in a pair of meets, both in the Mountaineer State. The Yellow Jackets traveled to Morgantown to participate in the Mountaineer Showcase hosted by West Virginia University on Friday. They followed that up with a trip to the Jasmine Caggett Memorial Invitational, which was hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan, on Saturday.
 
Waynesburg's efforts were highlighted by junior Rylie Baker (Weirton, W.Va. / Weir) setting a new school record in the hammer throw. She placed eighth out of 14 throwers with a top toss of 35.06 meters. Baker also completed in the women's discus throw, where she placed eighth out of 15 competitors with a distance of 29.83 meters

Peyton Kuhns (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) 6th place – 29.84 meters
 
On Saturday, a smaller group of Jacket athletes traveled to Buckhannon for the Claggett Invite.
 
With the regular season concluded, the Yellow Jacket women turn their attention to the 2026 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships, which will be held in Morgantown. The two-day event gets underway on Thursday, April 30.
