MEADVILLE, Pa. (September 20) – The Waynesburg University women's cross country team raced at the Allegheny Classic on Saturday, the Presidents' Athletic Conference Preview for this fall's championship.
The Yellow Jackets placed eighth out of 12 teams with 255 points against a field that included PAC opponents along with Division I, Division II, Division III and junior-college programs.
Freshman
Erin Belveal (Bay Village, Ohio / Bay) paced Waynesburg by finishing 34th overall with a time of 26:28. Sophomore
Taylor Severt (Howard, Ohio / East Knox) crossed in 72nd at 27:50, while freshman Alexis Hepburn (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) placed 87th in 28:30.
Freshman
Amber Sallee (Bentleyville, Pa. / Bentworth) and junior
Chloe Fields (Linesville, Pa. / Conneaut) finished back-to-back in 95th and 96th, respectively, both at 29:19 to close out the Jackets' scoring five.
Freshman
Olivia Dirk (Pleasant Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) and junior
Erin DeLong (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) rounded out Waynesburg's top-seven, placing 113th (30:42) and 122nd (31:39). Several more Jackets also competed in the 158-runner women's field.
Waynesburg returns to action next Saturday the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational.
