NEWVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 27) – The Waynesburg University women's cross country team hit the road on Saturday to compete in the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational. The Yellow Jackets placed 10
th in the 19-team 6K race with a score of 92.
Waynesburg was led by senior
Grace Tanksley (Bedford, Ind. / Bedford North Lawrence), who placed 19
th overall with a time of 24:24.4. Freshman
Erin Belveal (Bay Village, Ohio / Bay) was the next Yellow Jacket to cross the finish line, doing so with the 28
th-place mark of 24:54.8.
Junior
Chloe Fields (Linesville, Pa. / Conneaut) took 74
th overall after completing the course 27:20.5, while freshman Alexis Hepburn posted the number-78 mark of 27:27.0.
Three more Jacket freshmen hit the course on Saturday.
Amber Sallee (Bentleyville, Pa. / Bentworth),
Olivia Dirk (Pleasant Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) and
Lauryn Jones (Somerset, Pa. / Rockwood Area) logged times of 27:32.8, 29:22.1 and 30:19.6, respectively.
Misericordia took the team title with a team score of nine.
Waynesburg is off until Saturday, Oct. 18, when it travels to Gettysburg to compete in the Aubrey Shenk Invitational.
