Box Score WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 1) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team opened up their season with a 1-0 loss to non-Presidents' Athletic Conference opponent Penn State Behrend of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) on Tuesday.
During a scoreless first half, the closest chance for either team came 17 minutes into the game when Penn State Behrend (1-0) had a shot brush off the post. The Lions had three shots on goal in the first half, while Waynesburg (0-1) registered one shot on target, which came from freshman
Lance Biagas II (Houston Texas / Heights) with four minutes left in the period.
The Lions scored the difference-maker, which ended up being the only goal of the contest, in the 53
rd minute.
The Yellow Jackets were not able to score the equalizer, despite multiple late chances, including four free kicks and three corner kicks in the final 15 minutes which resulted in four shots on goal in that span alone.
Waynesburg registered six total shots on goal in the second half, ending with seven total tries on net, tying Penn State Behrend in that category. Behrend had two more total shots at 14-12.
