RECOGNITION RAINS DOWN ON URSINUS'S ZIGBUO
Ursinus junior defensive back Andy Zigbuo played a major role in the Bears' 17-14 victory over Delaware Valley. He recorded two interceptions, both of which stopped Aggies drives that made it into Bears territory, with one coming in the end zone. Zigbuo added three tackles to the winning effort. That standout performance earned him a spot on the D3Football.com Team of the Week and the honor of being named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Ursinus is coming off a 7-5 record in 2025 that included a 31-13 win over Lebanon Valley in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. The Bears are led by a running game that produced 207 yards against Delaware Valley. Senior Brooklyn Jones piled up 110 yards on just five carries, with 60 of those yards coming on one tote. Senior thumper Jason Bernard pounded out 67 yards and a touchdown on 15 attempts. Defensively, Ursinus featured six players who broke up one pass each during the team's 2026 lid lifter.
 
JACKET DEFENSE SHOWS A NASTY STREAK AGAINST CAPITAL
Under the guidance of first-year defensive coordinator Matt Tobey, the Waynesburg defensive front showed its fangs by piling up nine tackles for loss in week one. Senior defensive end Tyler Curry led the way with 2.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage, which have him tied for second in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), as part of an eight-tackle performance. The Jackets added three sacks as part of that effort.
 
A NEW TOP TARGET?
With most of last year's top receivers gone from last season, junior starting quarter Luke Hudson found someone who could be a new go-to option in the passing game. Junior wide receiver Isaiah Fields hauled in a game-high eight catches for a contest-best 84 yards against Capital. That total was more than half of Fields's 2025 total for receptions (14).
 
JUST HANGING OUT AROUND THE HOUSE
Saturday marks the second time in the last four seasons that Waynesburg will play its first two games of the year at home. The last time it happened was in 2023, when the Jackets suffered losses to Allegheny and Grove City. The last time Waynesburg played its first two games on the road was in 2019.
