WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 13) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team hosted Penn College of Technology on Sunday for a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup. The Yellow Jackets opened up a 2-0 lead, but needed a late penalty kick to secure the 3-2 victory.
Waynesburg (2-1-1) opened the scoring roughly eight minutes into the contest when junior
Sarpong Kwabiah (Odenton, Md. / Meade) tallied his first of the season off an assist from freshman
Esteban Carvajal (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg). The Jacket advantage doubled to 2-0 in the 19
th minute thanks to sophomore
John Engel (Dallas, Ga. / East Paulding), who split the pipes for the first time this season.
The home team took that 2-0 advantage into halftime and maintained it until the 73
rd minute when Penn (2-2-1) made the score 2-1. The Wildcats kept up the offensive pressure and tied the score at 2-2 in the 82
nd minute.
Waynesburg caught a break with less than five minutes to play when a foul was committed inside the Penn goalie box, giving the host squad a penalty kick. Kwabiah was called upon to take the crucial attempt and he came through the game-deciding tally.

Zach Reed (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Seton La Salle) got the win in net after making three saves over 90 minutes of work.
Waynesburg will look to continue its three-game unbeaten streak on Wednesday, Sept. 16, when it opens PAC play on Wednesday at Chatham. Start time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
