Waynesburg University's four-game, season-opening road trip ended on a sour note as they were smothered by Franciscan University to the tune of a 3-0 shutout loss Wednesday night.
The Yellow Jackets (1-2-1) managed just three total shots on the evening, two of which came from senior Cory Smith.
The Barons (2-1) got scores from Steven Duran, Gary Klump and Eddie Recznik to fuel the winning offense. The goals were scored on Waynesburg sophomore Tyler Hellwig, who made five saves in goal.
Waynesburg is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they open the home portion of their schedule against Lycoming College.
