Ebersole notches hat trick as women's soccer team wins 3-0

Yellow Jackets shutout Pitt-Greensburg to start season 2-0

Box Score

WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Waynesburg women's soccer team ran its season-opening win streak to two games as they blanked visiting Pitt-Greensburg by the final score of 3-0 at John F. Wiley Stadium.

The star of the game was 2008 second-team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) forward Courtney Ebersole (pictured above) who tallied her second collegiate hat trick, and her first of the season, to give the Jackets all the offense they needed to earn the win.

Ebersole's first score came at the end of the first half off of a feed from junior Brittney Brown and gave the Jackets a 1-0 lead. She added goals two and three in the second half. Freshman Heidi Weaver helped on goal number two with her first collegiate assist.

The game was the second-straight shutout pitched by Waynesburg. Junior keeper Katrina Kelly got the start and made six saves during 71 minutes of work. Fellow sophomore Jaime Williamson didn't face a shot on goal during her 19 minutes in net.

The Jackets dominated the contest from start to finish as they out-shot the Bobcats 25-8.

Waynesburg is 2-0 for the first time in over five years, and they'll try to make it 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 8, when they travel to Point Park for a 6 p.m. contest.
