DEFIANCE, Ohio (Sept. 4) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime tie at the DC Classic Tournament to the host team from Defiance.
Waynesburg is now 0-2-1 on the season, while Defiance is 0-0-1 in 2010.
After the two teams played a scoreless first half, Defiance took a 1-0 lead early in the second period. However, junior Erick Burke fired in his first goal of the season seven minutes later to knot the score up at 1-1.
Waynesburg keeper Ryan Hunsberger made four saves in net over 110 minutes. The visiting team also out-shot their hosts 15-11, including a 5-1 advantage in shots in the first overtime period.
Waynesburg will take another shot at their first win of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 7, when it heads to La Roche to face the Redhawks.
