Daughtry posts fourth shutout of 2012 in 2-0 triumph

Box Score

ALLIANCE, Ohio (Sept. 19) – Sophomore goalkeeper Brandon Daughtry stood tall in goal, while his field players put together an efficient night against Mt. Union on Wednesday, as Waynesburg won its second-straight game by the score of 2-0 over the Purple Raiders.

Daughtry faced a barrage of 23 shots, including 14 in the second half, but was able to make six saves for his Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC)-leading fourth shutout of the season. The Jackets (4-3) countered with eight shots of their own, including just two in the first half. One of those attempts was taken by freshman Victor Browne and found the back of the net after an assist by sophomore Cody Lemke in the 35th minute of action.

Waynesburg clung to its 1-0 lead for most of the remainder of the evening until adding an insurance goal with just over minute left to play. Sophomore James Sneed notched his first tally of 2012 in the 88th minute of action to seal up the victory against Mt. Union (2-3-1).

Waynesburg will look to keep its winning ways going on Saturday, Sept. 22, when the Jackets host Frostburg State at John F. Wiley Stadium. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
