Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio (Sept. 20) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team combined a solid offensive effort with excellent goaltending to pick up a 3-0 win at the University of Mount Union on Saturday. Waynesburg has won its last two games by a combined score of 8-2.
The Yellow Jackets (3-3-2) tallied the eventual game-winning goal during the 18
th minute of play. Sophomore
Chad Palucka did the honors after taking a feed from senior
Nick Brommer and burying the ball in the back of the net.
Waynesburg doubled its advantage to 2-0 early in the second half when junior
Victor Browne beat the Purple Raider (3-4) goalkeeper. Senior
Cody Lemke and sophomore
Zack Benedict helped out on the score.
The Yellow Jackets closed up the scoring with just under 25 minutes remaining in the contest. Senior
Colin Nelson notched the unassisted goal to seal the victory.
The three Waynesburg goals were more than enough support for senior goalkeeper
Brandon Daughtry, who made eight saves in net for the complete-game shutout.
The Jackets picked up the victory despite being out-shot 17-to-12. The difference in the game was shot efficiency, as Waynesburg scored on three of its six shots on net.
Waynesburg will go for its third-straight win on Wednesday, Sept. 24, when it heads to Baldwin Wallace University. Start time is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
