Box Score 2 TITUSVILLE, Fla. (March 11) – The Waynesburg University softball team gave first-year head coach
Richele Hall her first victory as the leader of the Yellow Jackets during Wednesday's doubleheader with Penn State Hazleton. After dropping a heart-breaking nine-inning defeat in the opener, the Jackets rebounded with an 11-6 nine-inning triumph over the Lady Lions.
Waynesburg (1-5) took a 1-0 lead in the opener when junior

Haley Payne. The Yellow Jackets and Lions (3-4) battled back-and-forth over seven regulation innings, before Hazleton pulled out the win in the ninth.
Payne singled twice to pace the Waynesburg offense in game one. Potopenko suffered the loss in the circle while pitching in relief of starting pitcher
Lyndi Gareis.
The Jackets got off to a flying start in game two by taking a 3-0 lead after 4.5 innings of play. Hazleton rebounded to take a 6-3 lead, before Waynesburg came back with three runs in the top of the seventh frame. Sophomore
Demi Lewin got things going with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 6-4. Junior
Cameron Grimes followed with a two-run base knock to tie the contest and eventually send it into the ninth inning.
The game was decided in the bottom of the eighth when five different Waynesburg players crossed home plate to make the score 11-6. Grimes not only came through with the game-tying base hit, but picked up the pitching win in relief.
Lewin had a very fruitful day at the plate in the late contest, going three-for-four with two singles, a double, three RBI and three runs scored. Senior outfielder
Emily Sorton went two-for-four with a triple, a single, two RBI and two runs scored.
Waynesburg will look to keep its winning ways going on Thursday, March 12, when it faces Waldorf College in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
