WAYNESBURG, Pa. (May 4) – Congratulations go out to the latest Waynesburg University Athletes of the Week. Freshman baseball player
Alec Engelmore (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shaler) and senior women's track & field standout
Aubrey Wingeart (King George, Va. / King George) shined at the recent Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships.
Engelmore did a little bit of everything to help Waynesburg to a 2-1 week, with all three games coming against Bethany. He boasted a .462 batting average (6-13) over three starts, tallied two doubles, two triples, two runs scored and a team-high five RBIs. He slugged .923 and sported a .462 on-base percentage. He also played error-free defense with three putouts and seven assists.
He also went 1-0 on the pitcher's mound with a 2.70 ERA over two appearances. He worked 3.1 innings and gave up one run on three hits and two walks, while also logging a save.
Wingeart was named PAC Most Outstanding Performer on the Track after winning the 10,000-meter run in 39:13.76 and the 5,000-meter in 18:08.16. As if those two gold medals weren't enough, Wingeart added a bronze in the 1,500 with a mark of 4:54.31.
