YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (December 6) – The Waynesburg University men's and women's indoor track & field teams began their 2024-25 season at the Youngstown State University Icebreaker on Friday.
The meet featured over 30 teams from NCAA Division I, II and III. The Yellow Jackets notched four top-10 finishes and two program top-10s.
Quintin Weaver (Rimersburg, Pa. / Union) ran the No. 4 men's 3k in team history with a time of 9:25.04. He placed 10th overall.
Freshman
Maggie Clair (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon McMillan) debuted in Waynesburg's top-10 in the women's shot put. She finished in the fourth with the 10th-best indoor shot put in program history at 10.90 meters.
Jacob Harker (Lilly, Pa / Bishop Carroll) narrowly missed out on a top-10 showing of his own as he finished sixth in the men's shot put at 13.80 meters. The cutout for the Jackets' top-10 list is at 13.81 meters.
Garrett Hillard (Greenville, Pa. / Greenville) notched a 10th-place showing in the weight throw at 12.57 meters.
Weaver, Clair, Harker and Hillard were each the top Division III finisher in their respective events.
Ella Rishell (Montgomery County, Md. / Watkins Mill) set personal records in the 400 (1:02.05) and the long jump (4.96) and finished 25th in both event.
JaLisa Fuller (Latrice, Ind. / Lawrence Central) placed 14th in the 800 in 2:40.59 in her indoor debut.
Megan Barry (North Huntington, Pa. / Norwin) was 17th in the weight throw (9.57 meters) and 18th in the shot (9.40 meters).
Adam Helbling (McDonald, Pa. / South Fayette) was 18th in the triple jump at 11.64 meters.
The Jackets return to action next semester at Muskingum on Jan. 25.
