Waynesburg, Pa (December 11) - The Rocket League JV team played a masterful set tonight beating Trine 4-2 to advance the programs very first ECAC finals next week against Nelson.
The team started off the series with a 1-0 shutout with freshman
John Kraynak scoring the lone goal. Freshman
Jeremiah Darnell assisted and freshman Cade Henderon added three saves. The second game went to Trine 2-1 with Henderson scoring the only goal for Waynesburg with Kraynak assisting and adding one save. The third game was another shutout in favor of the Jackets. This time the goals were split between Kraynak and Henderson with Darnell assisting on both and adding three saves. Game four went back to Trine 3-1 with Darnell scoring his only goal of the series assisted by Kraynak. This however was the last time Trine would hold a lead in a game for the rest of the series. Game five was another Waynesburg shutout 3-0 with Kraynak scoring two goals and Henderson adding the third. Darnell assisted on two of the goals and tallied three saves. The final game of the series was another Yellow Jackets shutout 2-0 to seal the match. Henderson scored both goals and Kraynak assisted on both. Darnell was clutch with a save and six shots.Â
The Rocket League team will face off against Nelson University next Thursday at 8:00pm for the ECAC Division E title. This is the esports program first ever ECAC title game and the fifth time they have advanced to a conference final.
