Waynesburg, Pa (April 20) - In its first year of competition, the Marvel Rivals team has qualified for the Division VIII NECC National Championship tournament. 

The team qualified for the conference playoffs in the fall and spring semesters. Although they did not win the conference championship in either season, they did accumulate enough points to qualify for an at-large spot in the tournament. The tournament will be an 8-team tournament with competion starting on Tuesday, April 21.

The team enters the tournament as the number four seed facing off against in-state rival, #5 Mercyhurst, in the first round. The game is slated as a best-of-five match with the winner moving onto the semifinals next week against either York or Illinois State. 

The match will start at 6:00pm and will be streamed on twitch.tv/TheEsportCompany. The esports arena will also be open to the public to view the event with doors opening at 5:00pm.
