Waynesburg, Pa. (February 23) - The Yellow Jacket esports team continued its winning streak this week posting an impressive 6-2 record.  The Super Smash Bros. team finished 2-0, the varsity Rocket League and JV Rocket League teams each finished 1-1, and the Overwatch team posted a 2-0 record for the week.

The Smash Bros. team led by junior, Alex Solomon, continue to show strong play and showed that they can persevere through difficult matches as well.  Their first match of the week was a Forfeit win against SUNY Potsdam.  Their second match of the week was a 2-1 victory against a very good Mt. Vernon Nazerene team.  After winning the first game decisively, the Jackets dropped the second game on the last three stocks.  The third game followed suit and was a the perfect ending to a hard fought back and forth match.  After taking the first 6 stocks, freshman Cash Wieczorek, was finally knocked off.  Freshman Makai'o Nihipali-Sanchez and sophomore Justin Roach, took the MVN team down to the final three stocks.  Junior captain, Alex Solomon, finished off the last MVN player in a tense match that came down to a final stock, winner take all.

The varsity Rocket League team suffered its first loss of the season dropping a hard fought match to Bushnell University on Wednesday (2/19) by a score of 2-4.  Although they lost the match, the games were extremely close and showcased what could be a potential playoff ECAC match later in the season.  The Jackets are currently in second place in their ECAC division after the loss.  However, in NECC action, the varsity team kept their spotless record intact beating Alvernia 3-1 on Thursday (2-20). Junior, Noah Westover was the hero of the match scoring the game tying goal in the fourth game to send it to overtime and then scoring the series winning goal at 2:35 in overtime.

The JV Rocket League team continued to play well and split their matches this week.  They posted a 4-2 win over Rogers State on Wednesday (2/19) in their ECAC match.  All three freshman, captain Nathan Bauza, Jordan Parkins, and Cody Main all contributed to their win.  In their NECC match, the JV team dropped a very close match 2-3 on Thursday (2/20) to a strong Arcadia team.  The final game was decided in overtime and again, all three freshman had a very good showing the the final goal taking a bad bounce to close out the series.

The Overwatch team continues to impress with their dominant play in both ECAC and NECC.  The team started the week with a 3-0 victory against Concordia University Chicago on Tuesday (2/18). Jackson Medvec had 51 eliminations and put up 15,000 damage.  They  continued their winning streak by defeating SUNY Fredonia 3-0 on Thursday (2/20) and then finished out the week by playing Saint Vincent College on Friday (2/21) and defeated the Bearcats 3-0. Overwatch continues their season undefeated 4-0 in ECAC and 3-0 in NECC.
