Indoor Track & Field competes at Bob Shannon Invite

GRANVILLE, Ohio (February 8) – The Waynesburg University indoor track & field teams continued their journeys at the Bob Shannon Invitational, hosted by Denison, on Saturday. Waynesburg notched numerous program and conference top-10 results.

Both Waynesburg teams placed eighth in the overall team scoring. The field consisted of mostly of Division II and III institutions in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Waynesburg bested Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Washington & Jefferson in both sets of team scores.

Quintin Weaver (Rimersburg, Pa. / Union) claimed the meet title in the 800 in 1:56.55. His time is the third-fastest in Waynesburg men's indoor history and converts to the No. 1 time in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) this season. Weaver added a sixth-place showing in the 3k in 9:20.87, the fourth-fastest event time in team history. 

Ella Rishell (Montgomery County, MD / Watkins Mill) placed fifth in the 200 in 27.41, the third-fastest time in team history. Her converted time ranks as the No. 2 200 mark in the PAC. Rishell also logged the No. 3 400-meter time in program history at 1:02.68 to finish fifth. Her converted 400 is the fourth-fastest effort in the conference this year. She also scored in the triple jump with a 9.47 meter distance placing seventh.

Grace Tanksley (Bedford, Ind. / Bedford North Lawrence) and Erin DeLong (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) finished second and third in the 5k. Tanklsey clocked in at 20:58.76 and DeLong followed with a PR of 22:14.53.

Aidan McGee (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon McMillan) placed fourth in the 5k in 17:56.87, converting into a top-20 effort in the PAC this season. Adam Helbling (McDonald, Pa. / South Fayette) took home fourth in the triple jump at 11.61 meters.

Chloe Fields (Linesville, Pa. / Conneaut) scored in the mile with a seventh-place finish of 5:59.49, a personal record. Maggie Clair (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon McMillan) notched an eighth-place finish in the shot put at 10.73 meters. 

Kyle Casella (Clarksboro, N.J. / Kingsway) and Dagyn Williams (Leslie, Ark. / Marshall) were 11th and 12th in the men's 400. Casella finished in 54.07 and Williams followed in 54.38. Both times converted into top-15 marks in the PAC this season. The Jackets' 4x400 relay unit of Ethan Wilson, Casella, Aaron Sanders (Peters Township, Pa. / Peters Township) and Weaver crossed seventh in 3:47.00.

Jacob Harker (Lilly, Pa / Bishop Carroll) placed third in the shout put with a top result of 13.79 meters. Garrett Hillard (Greenville, Pa. / Greenville) notched a season-best shot put of 12.52 meters, good for seventh in the PAC. Hillard led the way in the weight throw at 12.82 meters, good for fifth at the meet and sixth in the PAC. Harker followed in seventh at 12.30 meters.

The Jackets head to the Ohio Wesleyan Open next Saturday.
