Waynesburg, Pa. (March 22) - The Overwatch team has completed the program's second undefeated season and the first perfect regular season in esports program history finishing with a 14-0 record with all games won by shutout.
The team wrapped up their regular season campaign tonight. They became the first team in program history to finish a regular season with an undefeated record of 14-0. On top of that they did not concede a single map maintaining a perfect map record of 42-0. Overwatch beat Carlow University 3-0.
Jordan Parkins led the team in eliminations (75),
Felicia Duffy in assists (52), and
Ryan Sullivan in healing (16,700). On Friday Waynesburg claimed a 3-0 victory over Arkansas State - Mountain Home. The Overwatch team heads into playoffs as the #1 seed in NECC (National Esports Collegiate Conference) and #2 seed in ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference). Playoffs for both leagues start next week and a strong finish in either can earn the team a spot in the national playoffs.
The last esports team to finish a regular season undefeated was Rocket League in Fall 2022. They later went on to win the esports team's very first NECC conference title.
The esports team has a total of six teams going into playoff runs (tying the program record set last semester). Other teams to qualify for the playoffs this season are:
Overwatch - NECC (#1 seed) and ECAC (#2 seed)
Rocket League Varsity - NECCÂ (#5 seed)Â and ECAC (#11 seed)
Rocket League JV - ECAC (#7 seed)
Smash Bros. - ECAC (#5 seed)
Playoff schedules will be posted this weekend.
