Waynesburg, Pa. (March 24) - The esports team closed out their regular season last week posting an impressive 37-16 overall record. This set a program record for W/L percentage (.698).

The Smash Bros. team lost their final game of the regular season on Tuesday (3/18) in an NECC match against Mount Union University. After winning the first game, the Jackets fell behind early and lost two consecutive games for a 1-2 loss.  The team will be play their first playoff match tonight when they take on Roger Williams University in an ECAC first round playoff game at 8:00pm.

The varsity Rocket League team also closed out their regular season with a loss to Shenandoah University on Thursday (3/20) by a score of 0-3.  Notably, team captain, AJ Smolen, did not play in the match and was replaced by JV captain, Nathan Bauza.  The team plays two playoff matches this week against the University of Idaho (ECAC) on Wednesday (3/26) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (NECC) on Thursday (3/27).

The JV Rocket League team won their final match of the season on Monday (3/17) taking down Muskingum 4-3 in a thrilling come-from-behind win.  The team won the first game of the series and then quickly fell behind losing the next three.  In a tremendous team effort, the Jackets stormed back to win the next three games to finish off the Muskies and close out their regular season.  They start their ECAC playoff run this week on Wednesday (3/26) when they battle Lousiana Tech at 9:00pm.

The Overwatch team accomplished something that no team in Waynesburg sports history has.  They completed a perfect regular season winning all 14 of their games by shutout.  They closed out their regular season by defeating Carlow University on Tuesday (3/18) and the University of Akransas - Mountain Home on Friday (3/21).  The team secured a first round bye in the ECAC playoffs and will play a first round NECC playoff match on Friday (3/28) against a team to be announced.
