NEW CONCORD, Ohio (Jan. 24) – The Waynesburg University women's track & field team competed for the first time in 2026 when it traveled to Muskingum University's Muskie Meet #2 on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth out of 11 teams in the field with 82.5 points, which was just one point behind the third-place squad.
Waynesburg's biggest highlight came courtesy of its 4x200 relay team that set a new school record with a time of 1:51.21. The Yellow Jackets foursome of junior
Ella Rishell (Montgomery County, Md. / Watkins Mill), freshman
Miracle Hershey (Lebanon County, Pa. / New Covenant Christian), senior
Ella Boothe (Fredericktown, Pa. / Beth-Center) and freshman
Adaire Settles (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) broke the tape in the race.
Speaking of Hershey, she also picked up her first collegiate individual win by besting the field in the 60 meters with a time of 8.18 seconds. She also tied for seventh in the 200 meters with a mark of 29.29 seconds.
Settles posted her best individual showing in the 400 meters, in which she tied or sixth with a time of 1:07.19.
The Jackets also picked up points from junior
JaLisa Fuller (Latrice, Ind. / Lawrence Central) thanks to her sixth-place showing in the 800 meters (2:38.25).
The women's 1,000 meters was dominated by Orange and Black as six of the eight finishers were from Waynesburg. Senior
Grace Tanksley (Bedford, Ind. / Bedford North Lawrence) led the way with the top time in the event (3:34.12). She was followed across the finish line freshman
Erin Belveal (Bay Village, Ohio / Bay), who logged the number-two mark of 3:35.47.
Tanksley and Belveal also placed seven-eight in the 3,000 meters with respective times of 11:39.83 and 11:39.90.
Moving to the field events, Rishell paced the Jackets in the jumps with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump of 9.66 meters (31-8.5). Freshmen
Daniella Holley (Barnegat, N.J. / Barnegat) and
Chanelle Sutton (Mount Storm, W.Va. / Union Educational Complex) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the high jump.
Otterbein took home the overall team title with 181 points.
Waynesburg is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31, when it takes part in the Youngstown State Mid Major Invitational presented by Southwoods Health.
