ALLIANCE, Ohio (Jan. 31) – The Waynesburg University women's indoor track & field team traveled to the Wuske Invite, which was hosted by the University of Mount Union, on Saturday. There was no team scoring at the event.
Junior
Ella Rishell (Montgomery County, Md. / Watkins Mill) led Waynesburg with a pair of top-eight finishes on the track. She finished sixth in the 29-woman 200 meters with a time of 27.23 seconds, which puts her fourth in program history. Rishell also placed eighth out of 19 competitors in the 400 meters with a mark of 1:04.83.
The Jackets added a second top-half finisher in the 400 thanks to freshman Adaire Settle (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan), who logged the number-nine time of 1:04.96.
Freshman
Miracle Hershey (Lebanon County, Pa. / New Covenant Christian) placed 14
th out of 28 competitors in the 60 meters with a time of 8.42 seconds and freshman
Daniella Holley (Barnegat, N.J. / Barnegat) posted a time of 10.39 seconds, which was good for fourth place in the eight-woman 60-meter hurdles.
Waynesburg's best showing in the distance events came in the 5,000 meters. Senior
Grace Tanksley (Bedford, Ind. / Bedford North Lawrence) and freshman
Erin Belveal (Bay Village, Ohio / Bay) placed second and third, respectively, with times of 19:55.13 and 19:58.39.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Chico (Morgantown, W.Va. / University) paced the Jackets in the field events with the number-14 toss in the 29-woman shot put. Her top heave sailed 9.48 meters (32-3.5).
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 7, when they travel to the Bob Shannon Invitational at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
