Women's golf tees it up at the Westminster Invitational

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The Waynesburg University women's golf team competed at the Westminster Spring Invitational on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets took fifth overall out of eight teams with a four-person score of 423 while competing at Avalon Field Club.
 
Waynesburg was led by freshman Allison Wolling (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) who carded a score of 24-over score of 95 to finish 14th overall in the 45-woman field. Freshman Avery Davis (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) fired off a score of 98 which tied her for 17th. Davis highlighted her round with a birdie on the par three seventh hole.
 
Freshman Emmarson Anderson (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Blackhawk) scored a 112 to claim a tie for 33rd place. Classmate Lexi Schmadel (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg) rounded out the scoring four with a 118 to finish in 37th place.
 
Freshman Leigha Clapper (Bellwood, Pa. / Bellwood-Antis) competed as an individual for Waynesburg.
 
Washington & Jefferson took the team title with a 342. W&J's Megan Joyce grabbed individual medalist applause by firing an 82.
 
The Jackets are back in action on Monday, April 13, when they participate in the Peter C. Rossin Memorial Invitational held by Washington and Jefferson at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, Pa.
