Men's cross country opens 2026 at Fisher Invitational

Yellow Jackets take fourth at Westminster-hosted 5K

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 4) – The Waynesburg University men's cross country team opened the 2026 season with three runners placing top 50 out of 87 competitors at the Westminster Fisher 5K Invitational on Friday. The Yellow Jackets notched a fourth-place team finish.
 
Freshman Kyin Jeter (Braddock, Pa. / Carrick), junior Ethan WIlson (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Redeemer Lutheran) and senior Kyle Casella (Clarksboro, N.J. / Kingsway) crossed the line in 46th, 47th, and 48th-place finishes, respectively. Jeter clocked in at 18:38.1, Wilson at 18:38.2 and Casella at 18:43.9.
 
Freshman Jack Bell (Portage, Mich. / Edwardsburg) was the next Yellow Jacket to cross the line, tallying a time of 19:24.5 in 55th place. A few runners later, sophomore Jack Hood (Washington, Pa. / Trinity) completed his team's scoring five with the 64th-place time of 20:04.2.
 
Freshman Grady Pfeil (Johnstown, Pa. / Bishop McCort Catholic) placed 71st with a time of 21:34.1, while sophomore Logan Eberhardt (Massillon, Ohio / Tuslaw) finished right behind with a mark of 21:39.3. Freshman Robert Persson (Avalon, Pa. / Northgate) rounded out Waynesburg's evening by placing 74th with an effort of 21:56.4.
 
Geneva took home team title.

Waynesburg University will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 12, when the Jackets compete at the Bethany College Invitational. The race is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
