Women's lacrosse falls at home to Saint Vincent

Bearcats down Yellow Jackets 18-4

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Apr. 15) – The Waynesburg women's lacrosse team concluded the home portion of their home schedule with an 18-4 loss to Saint Vincent on Wednesday evening.

 

The loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 2-6 on the season, while the Bearcats improved to 3-5 on the year.

 

Saint Vincent scored the game's first 11 goals, all in the first half, before the Jackets got on the board with 1:54 to go in the period. Sophomore Caitlin Malay tallied the goal, which was her fifth on the season.

 

In the second half, after the Bearcats extended their lead to 12-1, Waynesburg's Maria Shepas tallied her ninth on the year with 27:03 to go in the game. The sophomore midfielder added her 10th of the season with 1:05 to go in the contest.

 

The Jackets' other goal came courtesy of junior midfielder Heather Quinlisk with 7:11 left in the game. It was her 10th of the season.

 

Waynesburg senior goalkeeper Amanda Jo Morgan stopped eight off 36 Saint Vincent shots on the evening.

 

The Jackets will try to snap a five-game losing streak on Saturday, Apr. 18, when they travel to Washington, D.C., to face Trinity College.
