WAYNESBURG, Pa. (July 10) – Waynesburg University rising sophomore
Waverly Lorne (New Providence, N.J. / Governor Livingston) was honored as the NCAA Statistical Champion for caused turnovers and ground balls across all divisions of NCAA women's lacrosse in 2024.
Lorne set NCAA Division III's single-season record with 110 caused turnovers and 6.47 caused turnovers per game. She had a nation-best 19 caused turnovers in a win over Sweet Briar and set Waynesburg's career caused turnover record in her debut season.
Lorne grabbed a Division III-leading 113 ground balls (6.65 ground balls per game) and set Waynesburg's single-season ground ball record. She recorded a program record 14 ground balls and caused a dozen turnovers at Thiel.
At the end of the season Lorne was honored as an All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Honorable Mention. She was Waynesburg's leading scorer with 32 goals and four assists and topped the roster with a team record 80 draw controls. Lorne was a three-time PAC Newcomer of the Week and named to the conference's academic honor roll.
