WAYNESBURG, Pa. (June 25) – Four Waynesburg University women's lacrosse players received Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
Recent graduates
Linsey Dami (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) and
Ella Grimes (McMurray, Pa. / Hillcrest Christian Academy), rising senior Asai Revak (Masontown, Pa. / Albert Gallatin) and rising junior
Mya Riggle (Ford City, Pa. / Armstrong) are the program's first Academic All-District picks since 2009.
Dami earned a degree in criminal justice in May, graduating with a 3.80 grade-point average. She made a dozen starts as a defender and notched eight ground balls and six caused turnovers. Dami was also named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll.
Grimes graduated with a 3.98 GPA and also earned criminal justice degree. In 15 starts, Grimes collected 12 ground balls, caused six turnovers and recorded two draw controls. She was named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll last week.
Revak is a criminal justice major with a 3.84 GPA. Revak started 15 games and finished fourth on the roster with 14 draw controls and fifth on the squad with eight caused turnovers. She caused four turnovers in the Jackets' win over Sweet Briar and had six draw controls at Saint Vincent. Revak was listed on the PAC Academic Honor Roll.
Riggle maintains a 3.79 GPA in forensic chemistry. She started 15 games and ranked third on the team with 15 draw controls and finished fourth on the team in goals (4) and points (4). Riggle scored in three-straight games in March, had multiple draw controls five times and earned a spot on the PAC Academic Honor Roll.
CSC's Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for the award, voted on by Athletic Communication professionals, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA or higher and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution. Select Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
