WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 21) – The 2010 women's lacrosse season came to an end for Waynesburg University on Wednesday with a 23-2 home loss to Medaille.
After the defeat, the Yellow Jackets ended the season with a 1-10 record. The Mavericks, which also concluded their 2010 schedule at John F. Wiley Stadium, ended the season with a 4-8 mark.
Medaille scored the first 12 goals of the game before freshman Molly Kramer tallied her 12th goal of the year to make the score 12-1 with 5:28 to go in the first half. The Mavericks built up a 23-1 lead as the game wound down, but the Jackets were able to end the year on a high note as freshman Courtney Frain, who started the game in goal, but subbed out to the field, scored her first collegiate goal with six seconds showing on the clock.
Frain took the loss in net after giving up the first four goals of the contest during her six-plus minutes in net. Sophomore Erin Burry played just over 44 minutes in goal and made a personal season-high 12 saves on 29 shots on goal. Freshman Mandy Ormsby played the final nine-plus minutes in net and made three saves.
