WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 21) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team closed out the 2011 season with a loss to Washington and Jefferson.
A young Yellow Jackets team fell in its final action of the year by the score of 22-3. Washington and Jefferson improved to 11-3, while the Jackets fell to 1-8. The Presidents led 12-2 at halftime, and outshot the Jackets 42-9.
Waynesburg's first goal of the game came courtesy of senior midfielder #Maria Shepas#, who found the back of the net on a free-position shot. Tiffany Stansberry added a goal with 2:39 left in the first half.
Senior Maria Shepas recorded a team-high two groundballs in the loss. Junior Erin Burry got the start in net for the Yellow Jackets and made 15 stops.
