Women's lacrosse gets back to competition

After long layoff, Yellow Jackets fall at Washington & Jefferson

Box Score

WASHINGTON, Pa. (March 14) – The good news for the Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team was that it scored on 100 percent of its shots during Wednesday's matchup at Washington & Jefferson. The bad news is the Yellow Jackets attempted just one shot on the evening during a 20-1 loss to the Presidents.

W&J (3-0) out-shot its opposition 38-to-one and had a 10-0 lead by halftime over the Jackets (1-3). Waynesburg picked up its only goal of the day, which was tallied by junior Mandy Ormsby, in the second half after finding itself down 14-0 after more than 33 minutes of play. Despite the loss, senior Erin Burry actually played a fairly solid game in net, making 15 saves on the day.

The Yellow Jackets will try to dust themselves and put the loss behind them as they are off for a full week before returning to competition. Waynesburg will square off with Saint Vincent on Wednesday, March 21. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
